A friend of mine lost her child in her womb – just when she decided she would keep it and make it live. When she first knew she was pregnant through a missed period and episodes of nausea and vomiting, she wouldn’t want to keep it and longed for it to be aborted. I think it’s a mechanism for those who are afraid to be disowned by her family who expects a lot, working hard to sustain the finances of the high tuition fee in college, and frightened of the responsibility – having a baby without a job and an undergraduate from college, plus a boyfriend whose not mature enough to become a father, who once denied the fact that the baby was his. What should a girl do, right?

     The failed attempt to abort the baby was due to a fake abortion pill she bought in Quiapo. We advised her not to do it and we’ll help her tell the news it to her parents. And because the pill was a bogus, she decided to keep the baby and find a fitting time for her to spill it to her family. By the time her tummy reached four months, she called us and said she was bleeding and she cannot tolerate the pain she’s feeling in her womb. Before we knew it, she was lying in the hospital and the doctor said that the baby was dead, because my friend was in a lot of stress during the past few days, and that her baby cannot hold on to her any longer.

     Girls really take MOST of the suffering. I pitied my friend whose parents are in the province, 12 hours away from Metro Manila, not knowing that their daughter was in the hospital because the 4-month fetus in her womb died and needs to be scraped from her uterus. No one knew in her family, except us, her friends. Her boyfriend didn’t come, though he knew that my friend was in the hospital, suffering, lost a vast amount of blood and in pain, needing his support. How could he handle his conscience just like that?         

    Guys just wanted girls to get laid in bed, then after that, they forgot their accountability for the action done. They would deny you and overlooked “that night” he promised this and that. I’m not saying ALL guys, but SOME of them are. I fairly know a number of girls who are victimized. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a man-hater or some sort. But hey, please please, sex should not be treated as a game. Pleasure may not lead to another enjoyment. It could be the beginning of a new life and a profound responsibility. Sex should be made out of love, not lust. If the urge to do it is relentless, then learn to do it safely.

    Pre-marital sex is an issue I’m not against of. It’s a fad, everyone do it and our society now accepts it. But when an instance like this comes- especially when you’re not ready yet to become a mommy or a daddy – the first thing that bursts into your mind is to kill the baby. And least you knew, it could be something that would haunt your soul forever.
