Goodbye Summer...
Posted by chelism at 03:08 PM .

The month of May has come to an end and tomorrow, I should tear the paper in the calendar so the month of June will uncover. The month has drawn a lot of memories in me and it’s difficult to erase it, even using the most expensive eraser or liquid paper there is. I think it’s not time yet for June to come for there are so many things I haven’t yet accomplished. One of which is that my skin color is not back yet, with a few tan lines on my shoulders and nape. A visit to the dentist to have my retainers repaired is not yet done, and also I failed to do a shopping galore at an ukay-ukay store in Cubao. I’ve been into a lot of stuff lately and I forgot that May is about to end. Quite quick, I must say.

By the time June arrives, a college student like me is likely to be busy. I’m going to be engaged in a lot of school works, home works, and of course, studying for exams. So here are some stuffs I would definitely miss about summer:

  • The beach, the heatness of the sun and my sunglasses
  • The sauna-bath feeling when you’re in a jeepney at 12 noon and its traffic.
  • Spaghetti strap blouses, shorts and the flip flops
  • Gimik with my highschool buddies every week (we’re doing it every summer because we’re not busy during those days)
  • DVD marathons
  • Boxing fights and boxing training
  • Malling around for free air-con
  • Halo-halo at Chowking
  • Staying at the house and just eat, sleep, eat, sleep
  • Being online and browsing the net the whole day
  • Lola Loring’s house at Greenhills (they have swimming pool!)
  • Slurpee at 7-eleven
  • … and the ice candy melon flavored for 3 pesos each

Sure, all these things will definitely return next year, but who knows? Maybe I will spend next year’s summer in another country where there's no beach and ice candy. So let’s be thankful for all the good things God has given us during the season, no matter how tiny or gigantic it is. Forget the sad memories and replace it with the good ones. Allow the rain to wash all your worries away!

Umbrella? check. Jacket with hoodie? check. Vitamin C? check. All geared up? Sure! To all the bloggers of the World Wide Web, let’s all welcome the rainy season with a smile on our faces!

It’s my first time to get tagged…
Posted by chelism at 01:28 AM .

While I was browsing random people’s blog through this now-fad webby called MyBlogLog, I’ve been tagged by this guy for viewing his blog. He said it’s a punishment for visiting but this was my first time to get tagged by a co-blogger so I’d rather answer this meme! (Why's it called meme? That, I have no idea) And it’s interesting he’s Chinese but cannot speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Same here, same here. Haha . Ok, John Hok, here it is:

8 Facts About Me:

  1. I have a mild case of Anorexia Nervosa – or in layman’s term: an intense fear of getting fat. Well, not the severe type, just a mild one. My metabolism is damn slow so a week full of junk foods, cola, and meals full of meat is equals to gaining pounds for me. And I hate it, pfft.
  2. I’m doing boxing training for almost a year now. Before, it was just for getting robust and fun, but the passion for it grew larger that I became fit for fighting. That makes me an amateur boxer at present (and a muay thai trainee, too!).
  3. My vision is 175/180 because I read in a dim light. Reading books before going to sleep is a hard-to-remove hobby I have since I was a kid. I own two pairs of glasses, which you would see me wearing rarely, just because I think it doesn’t look good on me.
  4. I love the color orange but my room is painted pink. Mom said orange is too bright and it doesn’t look good on a girl’s room. Since it’s her decision to renovate my room and the expenses are all hers, I let her decide on the color and choose other stuff to put in it. After all, mothers know best and I should stick to that cliché.
  5. I can type real fast. And I mean fast, like 60 words per minute. I’m not sure if this is a talent or not but I think computer geeks can type faster than me. Come on and challenge me fellow geeks!
  6. Xi’an City in China is a place I want to visit someday. The terra cotta warriors, hand-made by the historical warrior Shi Huang Ti is located in this city. Plus, I heard that there’s a lot of nice places to go to, and also great food around! So I’d better study hard so I can ask my folks for a trip to Xi’an as a prize. I’ll prefer this more than going to Europe!
  7. Miss Saigon the original soundtrack is my favorite CD of all time. The reason is I’m a big fan of Lea Salonga and playing her role as the vietnamese girl who fell in love with an American soldier during world war 2 in broadway is one of my biggest dreams, that might never come true. Haha. The story is tragic and very unique from those plain theater plays. Every lyric, each line and dialogue, I memorized them by heart.
  8. Tofu is my favorite food. Not the tokwa’t baboy style most Filipinos eat as a beer match or for dinner. I like it with chili powder and sesame oil! ohh, I’m craving for it almost everyday!
So, there it goes! Now, it’s payback time! I’m tagging Jake the Miserable, Coldchinito, Koyaanisquatsi, John_25, Mana_thesixth, and.. Whoever comments on this post! You can pass if you answered this already! I'll be expecting your answers!

A prayer before school starts
Posted by chelism at 01:21 PM .

Dear God,

I am sorry that I am ignoring you these past few days because I’ve been busy with some personal affairs, but I am very thankful you still give me blessings that I think I don’t deserve. You’re making me healthy by not catching a fever when the hard-headed me always forgets to bring an umbrella and prefers to run in the pouring rain after an intense boxing training. You gave me good friends and a loving, ever supporting family. What more? My two babies (dogs), Polka and Coby who never fails to put a smile on my face. Did you send them as angels to guard and guide me?

School is coming again and I asked you to help me pass all my subjects. Nursing is hard, dear Father especially when my heart is not into this dollar earning course. I’m striving hard to love it for my family whose been working hard to keep me going. I don’t want to be selfish, because you taught me not to be. I believe I can finish what I started and I have faith that you would help me. Please supply my brain with nutrients to alleviate my memorization skills, and make my tiny eyes wide open during late night studying.

I lost 3 pounds during the last week, making me fit enough and my body conditioned for an upcoming fight tomorrow morning. My waistline is not yet 24 and my legs are not that long but I am thankful for everything you have given me. This would be (supposedly) my last fight because classes will start on Tuesday, so I'll be doing the best I could to win and make my team proud of me. My pocket has nothing but some receipts and trash because my allowance is voided when there’s no class. I have a few coins here just enough for my jeepney fare and a cold gulaman drink. I have nothing now, except for the love you gave me. And that’s enough to survive a following day ahead. Far more than enough. Amen.

Lots of Love,
Rachiel

Michael turns 22!
Posted by chelism at 11:38 PM .

7 years ago, when I was in 2nd year highschool, I met this quiet guy through a common friend. He has this deadpan face, I thought we could never be close. But first impressions often don’t last. Our interest (and geekiness) in computers became a bridge way for us to become friends. I have never imagined we could be as close as we are now! Hehe. We played arcades and dance revolution at Worlds of Fun every Friday, and telebabad sessions are as often as everyday during our high school years. If my memory served me well, we always talk with the rest of the barkada through three-way. Since then, Michael became one of close friends. And I am happy that after all those years, we still are. Happy 22nd Birthday Michael! Tumatanda na tayo, noh? Salamat sa pinagsamahan!

Here's our "pinakamatinong" picture together! We're both wearing black! Haha!

Pizza pigging
Posted by chelism at 11:15 PM .

I went to SM North to buy myself some new underwear and white stockings. I’m expecting the mall to be not crowded as school starts tomorrow, and most probably, everyone have bought their school stuff already. To my surprise, the line at the entrance gate is lengthy and inside was flooded with people. Oh my gosh, really jam-packed! I went dizzy and blamed myself why I opted to go shopping today. I was so wrong. Lesson learned: Malls are crowded on weekends, and on holidays proclaimed by Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

To my dismay seeing the lines on cashiers at the department store, I decided to just pig out and eat pizza. The weight conscious in me suddenly vanished! Sbarro was my first choice, so I ordered Chicago White Deep stuffed pizza for 159 pesos with iced tea. It was so delicious, especially when sprinkled with peeper and hot sauce! I nearly forgot my name, haha! Honestly, I am trying to save my allowance but what can I do? I missed eating pizza at Sbarro and seeing it tempts me. But the 750 calories makes me feel guilty. I was paranoidly thinking that I gained the 3 pounds I’ve lost the past few weeks! Uh-oh.

I started to walk, believing I can shed some calories while doing so. I was browsing at Filbar’s for magazines when a tarpaulin banner caught my attention. “NO WAIT PIZZA FOR 59 PESOS”. It was Pizza Hut this time. Fine, I admit, I also bought that – for take out, alright! How I wish I can eat a lot and not gain a single pound! Life's never fair.

Edit: The take out pizza I bought, I ate it while driving home. And I said to myself I’ll give it to my sister. Can’t resist! Boo-hoo!

Training at Red Corner
Posted by chelism at 10:51 PM .

Manoy Boxing Gym will transfer to another location (also in Cubao) and because of this, I have to cross-train at Red Corner Boxing Gym in Panay. Today was my first day there, with a new trainer, of course. My previous trainer is going to take care of his sick dad who’s suffering from cancer of the bone and he will be busy because the gym is moving to another place. So I guess I have to put up with my new trainer at Red Corner.

Well, Red Corner is air-conditioned, which I disliked because I don’t sweat a lot even with a jacket on. Their punching bags are not that heavy, and I hate it because it swings excessively while I’m punching it. One more thing is their punch-mitts session in the ring. Combinations are poor, and defenses are less, and only 4 rounds because there’s a good number of people training also and I have to give way. And so I thought that maybe Red Corner Boxing Gym is the place for those who just want to be fit and lose weight. They don’t train fighters, nor those who dreamed of becoming one. For those who want to be amateurs and want REAL, HARDCORE, BOXING TRAINING, Manoy Boxing Gym is the place to be!

I’ll be training here for a month, or until Manoy Boxing Gym is fully renovated. But their ring is nice, tee-hee . And they have steam bath too! Coolness.

Not My Day!
Posted by chelism at 12:05 AM .

Why does the rain pour sporadically this month? Maybe God doesn’t allow those hard rains and typhoons to come in the Philippines because He knows that our country cannot handle the floods that may occur, or even black-outs for two days.

School began last week so Chel is in a “busy-mode” again. But I’ll try my best to tweak my bloggie every time I can. I’m having a love and hate relationship with my course and it’s incurable. There are times I enjoy what we are doing, but sometimes I loathe it. We are assigned at the Philippine Orthopedic Center where patients whose stupidity (just joking) causes them to fracture their bone are confined. It’s far from my home and going there is a pain in the pocket. Hey, I’m in cheapskate.

Imagine this:

  1. Three people stepped on my white shoes today.
  2. It was so hot on the way and I forgot to bring a handkerchief.
  3. I’m experiencing painful cramps because of my f*#%^#$ period.
  4. The tricycle I rode while going home bump into a jeepney, causing my head to knock into the tricycle’s interior. Thankfully, it’s not so serious. Ouch.
  5. The painful cramps and the head bump did not stop me from going to training.
  6. So I went training and kicked the heavy bag for my muay thai skills.
  7. The painful cramps got worse while I kick, so I asked for a hot-pack.
  8. When it subsided, I kicked again but my coach noticed that my feet have bruises all over, so he asked me to stop, go home and take a good rest.

Whew. Imagine that. I easily got bruised because first, I have my period and second, I just donated 400 cc of my blood last week. I was so unlucky; maybe I need feng shui advice or a lucky charm from Joy Lim, ha ha! It was definitely, absolutely, certainly, *put some synonyms here* NOT MY DAY!

Why Friendster is a Way of Stalking
Posted by chelism at 02:43 AM .

I remembered some time ago, I received a message in my Friendster account from a girl, whose primary picture has a multi-colored background and she was posed sitting with her hands on her neck, might be taken in a cheap photo studio (which I will not post here the link). It was not a good message for she’s bad-mouthing me to death. I have no idea why she’s so angry at me, but I was perplexed with the idea that maybe, this girl knew me or I did something awful to her. So I replied to her politely and asked what’s her problem – only to find out that my boyfriend cheated on me, and he’s dating that girl for 2 months. So, mystery solved in an instant!

It’s a problem when you give out every exact inch of detail about yourself in the world wide web. They’ll just type in your name in the search bar and, voila, it will appear straight away, and before you know it, other people look at it and the information gathered will be used to pester you. It’s flattering, yeah. But often times, annoying – take it from the girl who stalked me long before; she’s acting like she knew me, but in fact she just read my profile in friendster. Incidence like guys asking for my cellphone number, saying “you look cute”, I crush you, blah blah also happens. And to stop it from taking place, I’ve set my settings to private, for I can’t stand it.

I’m not against friendster because I, myself also stalk the people in my friend list, which I have'nt heard from for a long time. But it’s a good way of stalking, because I want to know what’s currently happening to them. Questions like does my friend have a new boyfriend now, or is he working already in a new company, what keeps them busy, and all that jazz. All can be answered when you browsed on their profiles and see their pictures. It can also be a mean of stalking your crush! Just remember to set your settings to “View Profile Anonymously”, and that’s a tip from me. Haha.

You can discover a LOT of things in friendster, and it can be a start of a fight too leading to a break up of a lovely relationship. I fairly know some people who have, and that includes me. So be very careful, peeps. And those guys who would want to cheat on their girlfriends should not give out their real names, unless they wanted to take the risk. But some secrets can be revealed so cheat at your own risk, and be very frightened with karma. What goes around comes around after all.

Or if you’re bored and got nothing to do, what are you waiting for? Start stalking your crush now on Friendster! If it would be me, no need to stalk, you just ask me nicely by posting a comment here, just joking! I wish Polo Ravales have a real friendster account so I can stalk him too. Such a hottie!

Some musings.

"Man has a body that is both his burden and his temptation. He ought to watch over it. Keep it in bounds, repress it, and obey it only as a last resort. It may be wrong to obey even then, but if so, the fault is venial. It is a fall, but a fall onto the k nees, which may end in prayer."
